Mohammedan Mosque at Shanghai on the 12th. February,
1901,
the validity of the marriage being determined by his capacity, under the law of his country of origin, namely Hongkong, to contract a polygamous
marriage.
5. The only point of doubt which exists in the application is the matter of Mohamed Ali Mallek's birth in Hongkong, although it is reason- able to assume that the records of birth maintained
in the Colony sixty or seventy years ago were
not necessarily complete.
6. The statutory declarations which I have
the honour to enclose herein, together with a
certificate relating to the marriage of the applicant's parents, constitute the grounds on which the application rests and the claim to
British nationality is based.
7.
I have the honour to recommend the
application to your favourable consideration and to request that I may be authorised to effect the
desired registrations of birth.
I have the honour to be,
With the highest respect,
sir,
Your most obedient,
humble servant,
(sa) J.W.O. DAVIDSON,
Acting Consul-General.
